FISHING CLUB ANNOUNCES $300 FALL TOURNAMENT

Get those rods, reels and tackle box ready as the popular George Hudson Memorial Fall Fishing Tournament is coming soon!

Aptly named for one of Long Lake’s most successful anglers, this tournament gives prizes for the total inches of the largest of each of six species caught during the two-day event. George Hudson was a Milwaukee native but spent much of his time at his cottage and on the waters at Long Lake.

The 2-day tournament will be held from 6 a.m. to noon, Sat., Sept. 27 and Sun., Sept. 28. Rules include:

Anglers must fish from a boat; two anglers per boat maximum

Fish eligible in 6 categories are northern, walleye, bass, perch, crappie, and bluegill

The longest fish per species score points, one point per inch

                        Registration fee: $10 per entrant

Fish must be registered at Benson’s Hideaway by noon each day of the tournament. The total accumulation of points qualifies for prize money. The six anglers scoring the most points will be awarded prize money totaling $300.

This is a Long Lake Fishing Club member-only tournament. It is easy to become a member by including your $10 per family annual membership along with your tournament registration and fee. This  new membership will run through the 2009 calendar year.

Registration forms are available and may be dropped off at Benson’s Hideaway on the north end of Long Lake (Boy Scout Dr. off of Hwy. 67, Din’s Mini-Mart in Dundee, and Benson’s Campground, Hwy. 67. Fall Dinner

On October 18 the LLFC had their annual fall dinner at the HonECor Golf Club in Kewaskum.  It was a nice fall evening and some came costumed for the Halloween season.  Don Enders, our new club president, awarded plaques for years of service to Charles Benson and John Koerble.

Their were many nice raffle prizes won and  many decorative center pieces  given away.  It was a nice evening and way to end the summer season.

New Update on Bike Trail-June 8, 2008

Phase 1 of the Mauthe to Long Lake Bike Trail was completed last October.  This 5 mile segment runs from the Mauthe Lake Recreation Area to a parking lot just east of Dundee south of CTH F.  Later this summer, Phase 2 of the project will begin.   The Fond du Lac County Highway Department will construct the remaining 1.6 mile of trail which will connect the CTH F parking lot to the Long Lake Recreation Area.  This segment will be routed easterly on the Southside of CTH F.  Just before Division Road, the trail will cross CTH F and head north into the Long Lake Campground.  At this time, a completion date as not been determined; hopefully the construction will be completed for the fall season.

A trail pass is not required to use this trail.
