The Long Lake Fishing Club held its annual ice fishing event on
Saturday, February 6th.
We could have used an old navy guy to help us tie knots on the tent
ropes Friday because one blew down overnight. We had to scramble to get
it up again the next morning. (It had nothing to do with me getting the
wrong type of rope.) Things were a little chaotic at first, but with the
strong northeast wind and snow settling down around noon everything
finally fell into place for the rest of the day.
Throughout the day anglers registered their catches, caught a glimpse of
what was in the catch and release tank and had a chance to get a bite to
eat and kick back at one of the many picnic tables setup on the lake.
Over twenty-five northerns along with eight bass and one walleye were
registered in the game fish category. The pan fish seemed to be tight
lipped as the numbers of registrations were low. This year was the first
time the Long Lake Fishing Club had a youth category. The winners in the
young category received some fishing gear.
We would like to thank all who volunteered and the anglers who
participated to make this a fun event. Hope to see you on the lake next
year.
